[Dave isn't the best when it comes to social clues, but you don't have to be an expert to understand the tone. The connection is instantly cut.]

[Leia shakes her head, doing her best to eliminate that discomfort from her expression. It's not Dave's fault, she knows that. So she can't blame him for wanting to show her something she did ask about and that means a lot to him.]

No, it's not your fault. If you want to leave, I won't stop you. But I will say, despite everything, it's flattering that the universe I'm from means this much to you.

I don't want to leave, I'm meeting Princess Leia!

[And there he goes, making a big deal out of if again. The gesturing of his hands goes extra crazy now, and his emotions are reacting. Effects on the environment? Not exactly. More like, effects on his magic, because his hands are sparking. Oops.]

And this is amazing, alright, and if I find Luke I'm sure I'm gonna, like, pass out. But I don't want to weird you out. Even if I already did. [...he's rambling, isn't he.] It really does, you have no idea. Glad to hear at least something is flattering.

[Because the expo memories definitely weren't.]

[Please don't pass out, Dave. That would cause problems and people would ask questions, and she'd be even more weirded out than she already is. (even more weirded out than she is at the sparks coming from his hands, too; used to that sort of thing happening or not, it still gets a raised eyebrow from Leia) But the last part she can focus on, that's easier than everything else.]

In a way, it's a retelling of my life. It's only natural to be flattered when someone says your life means that much to them.

[He has to think about that for a second and so he sits down again, letting her words run through his head. Dave himself is the descendant of a supposed "fictional character" but it's not like people know and will go around telling him his grandpa was great. Besides, most stories about Merlin were inaccurate as fuck.

Still... if someone were inspired by the Merlin legends, Dave can't deny he'd feel at least a little bit of pride.]

I guess you're right. Sorry I freaked out. [He pauses for a moment, hesitating.] Is it-- is it ok to ask what's the last thing you remember?

It's not a problem. Were our situations reversed, I'd have a similar reaction.

[Well. A close enough one, but with more subtle and subdued reactions, but she'd still kind of freak out.]

Before I arrived here, I was on the moon of Endor.

[Which Dave can use to guess whether that's before or after the Death Star was destroyed.]

No way. You're Leia, you're smoother than this.

[The mention of the moon of Endor has his eyes widening and both eyebrows raising as high as they can go.]

You mean... around the time the Death Star was destroyed? [Wow, that's a really early canon point.] So I know your future? Wait-- you mentioned things from the future too!

The second Death Star, yes.

[Which she says just a bit bitterly. She's allowed to be bitter about any and all Death Stars. They shouldn't exist, even if they do keep getting destroyed.]

Are you saying there's more than just those movies about my life?

[She's totally allowed to be bitter about Death Stars, yes, Dave won't blame her for that. And if it makes her forget about the weird feelings he caused, all the better.]

You have no idea. The movies are the main source, what it started it all. The first three are about you, and Luke, and Han. They start with R2D2 getting your message to Obi Wan and end with... well, what you just lived. Then they made prequels - Anakin's story. [He pulls a face - still salty about that!] But since the beginning there was a lot of extra material. Novels, games, comics, you name it. I could tell you about your grandchildren.

My grandchildren.

[She sounds a bit amuses, a bit skeptical, because that's quite the claim to make. And she'd like to imagine the galaxy is at peace when the war is over, and that there aren't any exciting stories to tell, because there's no more danger or anything for her family. She knows better than to assume that, but she would like to think that's what happens.]
